Editor’s Column: September
I love September. It’s the month of Oktoberfest (just to keep you on your toes!), and you can guarantee that as ever there will be a number of fresh-faced travellers downing 1 litre beers in Munich, and looking a lot less fresh-faced 5 days and 50 litres of beer later.
An Amazing Summer
Our contributors have had incredible summer adventures. I’ve enjoyed living vicariously through everyone’s adventures and adding things to my bucket list. Hannah’s living her best life in Costa Rica. Despite the lack of showers, Ellyse, Tom and Betty are on the trip of a lifetime. Rory’s articles make me want to get my motorbike licence (or find a travel buddy who has one) and get off the beaten track in Southeast Asia. Arianna’s New Zealand adventures have made me very nostalgic for coach tours of yesteryear (and look forward to a winter Lord of the Rings duvet day), and Abbey gives me faith that I don’t need to sell a kidney to go on more trips! Of course, it’s only summer in the Northern Hemisphere so Thom’s pieces on wintry Australia have me searching Skyscanner to get back Down Under ASAP.
Coming Up This Month
Now the kids are going back to school it’s the perfect time to travel and save a bit of cash! Coming up this month we’ve got Thom’s next gorgeous photojournal of the Jenolan Caves in NSW. Kate’s giving us the lowdown on her Scandinavian road trip, and Abbey’s giving us her best budget travel tips for Germany. Ellyse and the van have made it to Montenegro and Bosnia! Arianna’s last hurrah south of the equator was a week in Ubud, Bali, and Hannah’s letting you know what it’s really like to live in the jungle of Costa Rica’s Diamante Valley. Brady’s got some stunning videos of Vienna, Budapest and Prague to share, and Bianca spent a full 5 days in the Cinque Terre and surrounding villages.
Happy travels x
